I first came into contact with Bryan when I purchased my first house. As you can imagine, I didn’t really have any idea what I was doing, and Bryan was, at the time, just someone else I had to pay to satisfy conditions on a contract. But, man, was I wrong.

 

Right from the beginning Bryan was easy to deal with – he gave me a quote on the spot (which he didn’t deviate from), gave me a rundown of what he was going to do (in layman’s terms), and organised an inspection right away (which was exactly what I needed).

 

When he published the report, it was easy-to-read and well set out – and I’m enrolled as a ‘Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand’, so I know what easy-to-read is supposed to look like.

 

Of course, because I had to go through two agents to get things done, I was left a bit shafted by the end of the whole house-buying process: you see, I didn’t know anything about ‘flashings’ – this was highlighted in Bryan’s report as needing replacement – so when I came to do the final ‘inspection’, I O.K.ed everything. Which was a big mistake.

What I should have done was to get Bryan in first. When I did finally get him in, he showed me that the vendors hadn’t done what they were supposed to have done (replace the flashings), and that the solicitors had probably not been on-the-ball (being a first-home buyer, they should’ve explained things to me).

 

So, when it came to payment for the re-inspection, he simply waived his fee. That’s right, he did it for free.

 

So, I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending him. And if anyone wants to give me a call (my number is 027 695 5582), I’d be happy to talk to them.
